[Movies] Are We Closer To A Goonies Sequel?
Posted by Larry Csonka on 07.01.2009

According to SCI-FI WIRE, it appears as if there is life to a Goonies sequel. Original screenwriter Chris Columbus has stated that Richard Donner may be re-assembling the cast. He also mentions that Joe Pantoliano, who played one of the Fratelli brothers, has been contacted about a return. Columbus commented on the sequel, stating the following…

"I think the only way it could be done is if the kids are now the parents, and their kids have become the Goonies. I still think the two brothers are still alive and well, so they could still be in the movie. So it's a matter of whether or not they could re-create that concept.

But will he be able to sell a movie on the idea that kids actually play outside?

"I don't know if that's possible anymore. Maybe if all the parents in the new Goonie movie forbid their kids to play on the Internet, that's gotta be the plot. You can't go anywhere near a computer or cell phone. I guess the adventures are online."

This movie would make no sense at all and would be a waste. Please don't ruin a cult classis with a sequel. Sequels tend to blow.

i actually think this would be pretty cool. the youngest of all of them is chunk at 35 so by the time this could be made, like 2 years, it's very believable for all of them to have kids 11-17 years old

it would be pretty damn funny to see the fratelli brothers fight again like maybe they are fighting in their house and knock over the urn of Mrs. Fratelli and one of them uses it to globber the other....damn this writes itself.

but what about sloth? well i guess any big dude can do that

you know Corey Feldman is praying this happens. i could see Josh Brolin not returning simply because he's got other projects going on

Every Corey Feldman movie needs a sequel. Every damned one!

Good luck getting Josh Brolin involved in this abortion...

Realistically, this movie sucked anyway. The original was stupid so the sequel couldn't hurt. The sequel might even be better....but that shouldn't be too hard.

Are We Closer To A Goonies Sequel?

i hope not...the original was a classic, and a one-and-done...no need for a sequel.

I'll believe it when i see it. I'd rather see Ke Huy Quan make his return in Indy V.
